PIA Virtual-Curso 10 - Grupo 1 - Bimestre 5

Welcome to Course 10. In this course, you will gain the necessary linguistic elements to write an expository text about a common environmental issue in your city, its causes, consequences, and how it is managed in the city. Through the activities proposed in the course, you will get familiar with vocabulary related to environmental issues, strategies, and solutions as well as different ways to express facts and opinions about environmental topics. Besides, you will strengthen the use of strategies to understand general and specific information from audiovisual texts, and the use of conditionals (1, 2, and zero) and discourse markers in the appropriate way.

As in previous courses, you will develop one main task and three sub-tasks. In the Main Task you will make a written report on an environmental issue in your city. In Sub-task A, you will record a podcast about common environmental problems in cities. Sub-task B requires you to report on an environmental issue and provide solutions that have been implemented in other cities. In Sub-task C you will write the draft of an article about an environmental issue to be published in a newspaper. As you can see, each sub-task is focused on providing you with tools and skills that will help you develop the main one.

Keep in mind that, just like in prior courses, your participation in the three online sessions and completion of the suggested exercises for each task are crucial to your success in the course.
