I have a toy I got for christmas last year. It means a lot to me because it's a zombie, my favorite thing, and was given to me by a family member who never understood my interests until recently. I've always been given frilly, brightly colored things by my whole family, but my aunt stepped up and asked me what my interests were. I told her creepy things, horror movies, and - most importantly - zombies. I love that I was given something that meant the person thought of the real me.

--> Tengo un juguete que me regalaron por navidad el año pasado. Significa mucho para mí porque es un zombi, mi objeto favorito, y me lo regaló un familiar que nunca entendió mis intereses hasta hace poco. Toda mi familia siempre me ha dado cosas con volantes y colores brillantes, pero mi tía se acercó y me preguntó cuáles eran mis intereses. Le conté cosas espeluznantes, películas de terror y, lo más importante, zombis. Me encanta que me dieron algo que significaba que la persona pensaba en mi verdadero yo.

I chose the bedroom sign I got from my year in Cedarville University in Ohio. My RA made ones for everyone in my dorm when we first arrived. Every time I look at it I'm flooded with memories, a lot of good and a lot of bad. Mostly, I'm reminded of how much I learned about myself.

I am using a small figurine of Grogu (baby yoda) I received as part of a Christmas gift. I love Star Wars and have always wanted to pay tribute to it in my art as it was some of the first video games I played.

No siento apego emocional por ningún objeto en particular. Más que los objetos, me interesa la relación con mi entorno y las memorias que recojo del paisaje. El cielo, el clima y los factores que lo modifican, son elementos a los que presto atención y que me gusta antropomorfizar como seres que se comportan bajo deseos similares a los de los humanos.

En este caso elegí como referencia una dibujo que tenía acerca del sol, de un día en el que estuvo todo el día escondido tras las nubes, como si las nubes fueran una cama y el sol hubiera decidido quedarse entre las cobijas.

For this project, I gathered some reference photos of something that I won't be able to take to Colombia, but something that is important to me and that I'll be thinking about on the journey. These are pictures of my microphone, which I use to record music. I am not taking it because I of course won't have time to record while I'm in Colombia, but I am going to be thinking about it a lot. My goal for this summer is to write a lot of songs and at least start production on a project, and I think that opening my mind to new cultures and seeing things I've never seen before will be a great way to gather inspiration, so I'm going to try to soak it all in.

Para esta actividad, elegí un peluche, fue echo a mano por uno de mis mejores amigos, como regalo de cumpleaños hace un par de años, en el que combinó un gato, mi animal favorito, con Luffy el protagonista de mi serie favorita, pero lamentablemente lo perdí en el metro, seguro a alguien también le pareció muy bonito y no pudo evitar llevarselo sin descaro alguno :')

This is an old video cassette tape with a home movie on it. This is a personal object to me because it is a dumb little home-made movie about me and my siblings fighting nut crackers that we bought at Hobby Lobby when we were really young. As this is an important family memory/artifact, the cassette has a strict "no leaving country" status. Unfortunately, I was not able to complete this project, so I will have to save it for another day. In place of this model, I included an old piece I modeled a while ago.

Para el objeto especial escogí mi oso de peluche que se llama "Teddy Bear " :) un nombre original, el cual lleva conmigo prácticamente toda mi vida, osea que tiene más de 20 años y sigue intacto, a pesar de que no soy muy apegada a él, siento que es algo que representa lo bonita que fue mi niñez y el amor que he recibido en mi hogar.

For the special object I chose my teddy bear called "Teddy Bear" :) a very original name , which carries with me practically all my life, so it is more than 20 years old and still intact, although I am not very attached to it, I feel that it is something that represents how beautiful my childhood was and the love I have received in my home.

Elegí este objeto basándome en el concepto de caja. Como un lugar que recoge recuerdos, experiencias, mensajes, palabras, y que de alguna manera está relacionado con nuestro viaje interior por la vida. 

Para el proyecto de pensar en llevar un objeto con nosotros, decido tomar un fragmento visual de una carta escrita y dibujada por mi hermana, que recibo como mensaje con motivo de un viaje que no se pudo realizar para mi decimoctavo cumpleaños... Y decido llevar esta representación a la tridimensionalidad, para que este mismo personaje pueda ahora viajar a cualquier parte con su regalo./I chose this object based on the concept of a box. As a place that collects memories, experiences, messages, words, and that somehow is related to our inner journey through life. 

For the project of thinking about carrying an object with us, I decide to take a visual fragment of a letter written and drawn by my sister, which I receive as a message on the occasion of a trip that could not be made for my eighteenth birthday... And I decide to take this representation to three-dimensionality, so that this same character can now travel anywhere with his present.

I chose to model an angel salt shaker. I thought it was very cute, and I do love some well seasoned food. This object can't be taken with me when I travel since it is made out of glass, so I decided to model it for the 3D print.  At the end, I added devil horns to the angel to create a paradox. I'm very excited to see how it turns out printed!

Mi modelo 3d lo base en un llavero de peluche que tengo de un aguacate conejo, si bien no lo tengo desde hace mucho tiempo, si que desde que lo tengo siempre lo llevo conmigo, por eso mismo quería enseñarlo a los demás, ya que es algo que siempre esta ahí en mi mochila pasando desapercibido. Ahora con el viaje terminado puedo confirmar que ese llavero estuvo en casi todo el viaje en la mochila y saber que ahora tiene una especie de hijito es muy lindo.

De igual manera ya había manejado blender, pero para animar, lo que sabia de modelado era muy poco; así que gracias a esta experiencia y a las asesorías del profesor Carlos, aprendí como modelar y la verdad lo disfrute mucho.

My 3d model is based on a stuffed keychain that I have of a rabbit avocado, although I have not had it for a long time, since I have it I always carry it with me, for that very reason I wanted to show it to others, since it is something that is always there in my backpack going unnoticed. Now that the trip is over, I can confirm that that key chain was in the backpack for almost the entire trip and knowing that she now has some kind of little son is very nice.

In the same way, I had already handled blender, but to animate, what I knew about modeling was very little; So thanks to this experience and the advice of Professor Carlos, I learned how to model and I really enjoyed it a lot.

Para mi modelado escogí un mueble que pertenecía a mi abuela, ya que ella falleció el año pasado lo heredé y por eso le guardo mucho cariño, es una parte de la casa de mi abuelita en Manizales, mi casa materna. Su forma y el estilo oriental llamaron mi atención desde que tengo memoria. Ya que no tenía casi experiencia modelando en blender fue un poco difícil el inicio pero con ayuda del profe Carlos aprendí las herramientas necesarias para modelar mi objeto, quedé muy satisfecha con el resultado final.

For my modeling I chose a piece of furniture that belonged to my grandmother, since she passed away last year I inherited it and that is why I am very fond of it, it is a part of my abuelita's house in Manizales, my mother's house. Its shape and oriental style caught my attention since I can remember. Since I had almost no experience modeling in blender it was a little difficult at the beginning but with the help of my teacher Carlos I learned the necessary tools to model my object, I was very satisfied with the final result.

Since I came to the United States in 2011, this stereo has become my good friend. It accompanies me in a foreign country to cry, feel happy and miss my hometown together.

It accompanies me to make up every morning and brings me a wonderful start to the day. It is the atmosphere conditioner for every party, sometimes elegant and sometimes passionate.

This is our favorite toy, BB8, which my boyfriend and I independently designed. It consists of two parts, the head, and the body, and we personally selected the colors and combinations. Before coming to the US, visiting California Disney and hand-picking our own BB8 was a cherished item on our bucket list. It symbolizes our dreams and ambitions for the future and the resilience we've shown in overcoming past hardships. Although it's not easily portable and lacks flexibility as a toy, simply having it displayed in our cupboard reminds us of our perseverance and unwavering determination to continue fighting for our goals.
